Why we always polish before Ceramic application

Why we always polish before Ceramic application

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that is applied to the exterior of a vehicle. The coating bonds with the paint and creates a durable layer of protection. Ceramic coatings are typically more expensive than traditional waxes or sealants, but they offer superior protection from UV rays, bird droppings, and other environmental contaminants. In addition, ceramic coatings make it easier to clean dirt and grime from the surface of your vehicle. For these reasons, ceramic coatings are an excellent option for protecting your investment.

Why we always polish before Ceramic application

Car polishing is important before we install a ceramic coating for a few reasons. First, polishing helps to remove any existing dirt, debris, or stains that may be on the car's surface. This ensures that the coating will have a smooth, even surface to bond to. Additionally, polishing helps to create a smooth surface texture, which is necessary for the optimal performance of the coating. Finally, car polishing also helps to remove any wax or sealant that may be present on the car's surface. This is important because waxes and sealants can create a barrier between the coating and the car's paint, preventing the coating from adhering properly. By taking the time to polish your car before installing a ceramic coating, you can help ensure that the coating will perform at its best.

FAQs

Common myths about ceramics

Yes, coatings are long-lasting and durable, but that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want with your vehicle and think the coating will protect it. There are limitations and it’s important to understand what the ceramic coating can handle. Too many times we see customers overthink the protection aspect of the coating and are then disappointed when they see swirls or etchings in the paintwork.

Will it make my car scratch proof?

When we say the coating will resist light swirls and scratches, we genuinely mean very light swirls and scratches that might be induced when properly washing or drying the vehicle. If you drag a dry and dirty wash mitt across the paint, you will scratch the paint. If you drag your hand or leg across the paint, you will scratch it.

Will ceramic coating prevent rock chips?

The only real option that can protect your paint from rock chips will be paint protection film (PPF).

No matter how many layers you apply of any protection, whether it’s wax or ceramic coating, it cannot stop the impact of a rock hitting your vehicle.
